I woke one morning with the word, ‘breathe’ on my mind as I thought of writing that morning. It took me some days to finish writing this article. There was the urge to fully understand what the word was about. I knew there was more to it. I watched and listened to the lyrics of two songs by Dunsin Oyekan and Apostle Joshua Selma.
Literally, as we know the word, one may just think it is about the biological inhaling and exhaling of air through the body. But, if we choose to think just that, then, without this biological process, we are dead. To breathe is to live.
To live is ‘TO LIVE’ and not just to exist.
To live is to experience the richness of life in all its forms. To live is to be present, authentic, and to strive for fulfilment and meaning in everything one does. If this is so, then breathing is not passive; it is active.
Breathing connects the spirit, soul, and body.
Breathing speaks of calmness, mindfulness and stability. It also communicates giving space for growth, freedom and renewal. Breathing speaks of intentionality and movement, connecting the physical act of living with deeper emotional and spiritual experiences.
To breathe can imply a flow of energy or momentum, but how does breathing translate to success?
Success is rooted in divine connection.
When we search The Script, the instruction manual for living, we observe that breath relates to life, spirit, and God’s creative power. After God moulded man, he breathed into him, the breath of life and he became a living being. When God breathed into the first man, it was not air. It was His spirit God breathe into man. It is God who gives breath of life and everything else.
On God’s instruction, Ezekiel prophesied, and breath entered the dry bones (after flesh and skin had covered them) and they came to life. This speaks of restoration in all forms and renewal. If we want success, it figures that we should understand that it is God who gives the gift of breath and, as we apply spiritual principles and remaining connected to the source of breath, we will have sustained success.
Fulfilment in business and life comes when we align with God’s purpose for our lives.
I had to separate business from life for people to understand. However, when we refer to the whole man, we understand that man is a being with integral parts that are interconnected, and each part influences the other. So, when we say life, all the integral parts, including business, make up the life of a man.
Connecting to the giver of breath provides divine guidance, creativity, and the ability to persevere through challenges.
Consistent breathing helps with the art of focus.
There will always be distractions. There will be a reason not to dare to take a plunge to fulfil that dream. You may go into a niche and next, you feel and see that it is saturated; then you choose not to. You may go into it with limiting beliefs that may hinder you from being successful.
To do business, or entrepreneurship is spiritual.
If this is so, then it makes sense for one to tap into the creative power of God. The creative power of God gives your business the unique edge to help you stand out, even if you are in a saturated niche. Connecting daily to the breath of life helps you stay focused.
A focused mind ensures long-term success in life.
Breath of life fuels clarity, decision-making, and strength; qualities necessary for life’s success. Consistent breathing in the place of communication with the giver of breath keeps you focused on your purpose.
Breath for renewal and resilience
My life has suffered stagnation which came because of me thinking I could go it alone.
I listened to men instead of going to God and trusting him to breathe on me. Now I know I’m responsible for how my life has turned out. But our God is merciful. He never abandoned me. As the dry bones came alive, I know that as I allow God to consistently breathe on me, my life comes alive.
All setbacks and stagnation will be a thing of the past.
When God breathes upon you, like Dunsin Oyekan said, he breathes into you His life, His nature and His ability.
Breathe in God’s spirit for holistic success
From The Script (Acts 17:25), we understand that God supplies life, breath and everything.
He doesn’t need anything from us, but we need everything from Him. You have genuine success when you operate from a place of abundance and wholeness. Only God can do this for you. Spirit, soul, and body must be in sync and healthy. We should care for our spirit through spiritual discipline, our mind through learning and wisdom, and our body through health and physical vitality. God supplies all you need for success and health.
Let God breathe on all that concerns you.
Let Him breathe on your business
You can’t separate yourself from your source of livelihood or income.
People don’t know the difference it will make when God is in charge of business or career. When God breathes into your purpose, it will be successful. There must be spiritual alignment for you to have outstanding success. If you are experiencing setbacks and stagnation, invite God to breathe on your business.
Here are some practical tips:
Spiritual alignment: Invite God, pray, listen and obey him daily as you trust him to breathe upon you his creative power. He who sees the unseen can show you how to manoeuvre in the business world. Invite Him into all areas of the business, including the decision making and money management.
Rest and Renewal: Incorporate rhythms of ‘do and rest’, similar to how breathing has inhale and exhale, ensuring time for both work and restoration to avoid burnout. When God says rest, rest. It doesn’t matter if there is what you may consider an emergency (I just must get to it now). Sometimes it is in rest moments that breakthrough ideas come.
Resilience through Setbacks: When challenges arise, and you are at your wit’s end. You have prayed, and it seems there is no answer. Even when it seems to you that God is neither speaking to you nor at work, He never stops working. Persevere and stay rooted in your purpose. God will surely come through in His time. And it will be beautiful; more than you imagined or thought.
When God breathes on all areas of your life, like Dunsin Oyekan sang; with His breath of life is how you come alive and how you change your world.
Let the ‘I AM that I AM’; He who helps you to become breathe on you. Success Awaits!
