The power of vision, plan and actions for the success you desire.
If you don’t have a vision, you are doomed,
When you don’t plan your vision, it will not happen.
And when you don’t act your plan, it remains on paper.
Mental laziness is a disease found among some 9-5ers.
Or wait…
Did I hear you say it is not true?
Maybe it is not laziness… Maybe it is work fatigue, lack of motivation, or procrastination or…
Leo-Paul was an administrator in a college and spent over 35 years before he retired. Now he is retired, he has no clue what to do next. All the past years, he simply did as was expected of him and that was it. All the years he did not train his brain to act, explore or imagine. His friends tried to get him involved in projects, but he just wouldn’t make efforts. Every other person will play their role, but he wouldn’t. With time, his friends stopped bothering him.
Leo-Paul is an existing human, not a living human. He is just content with passing through the earth and not interested in fulfilling a purpose. Now, his monthly pension is not enough for him, but he sits and complains. He allowed himself to get distracted by the daily grind. Now he feels stranded and at a loss at what to do.
Whatever was Leo-Paul’s challenge or weakness that led to his predicament… now he doesn’t like how he turned out after 35 years of active service.
Tell me you are not like Leo-Paul.
Or
Are you? Are you living in a fool’s paradise? Do you expect every other person to do the work and then, just somehow, you earn? Are you one of those entitlement mentality has enslaved?
Think of this…
The monthly salary will someday end… Your pension may not be enough. If your children are still young and you retire, or you are out of a job, imagine your predicament at such a time.
One day you may appraise yourself and fill miserable when everyone around you is fulfilling their purpose and is successful such that retirement does not unsettle them.
Someday, you may question your existence.
But if you are a person of purpose; one with a vision, it is a step to your success.
Have you been wanting to start your own business, write a book, fire your boss or travel the world?
If you have a vision. It is your guide and can provide a sense of purpose.
I believe that we all daydream. We all have dreams and aspirations, but what differentiates successful people from others is that for successful people, it is not just dreaming. It takes more than just dreaming to turn dreams into reality.
A dream becomes a reality when you have a clear vision, a solid plan, and take consistent action towards achieving your dream.
The power of vision, planning and taking actions is the propelling force you need to achieve success in any area of your life.
The Power of Vision
Meaningful achievements in life occur because the person or persons had a clear vision of what they wanted to accomplish. A vision gives you direction and purpose, and helps you stay focused on your goals.
When it seems that challenges, obstacles and trials want to envelop you, your vision helps you stay focused and gives you the motivation to keep moving. When you create a compelling vision, it excites you, inspires you and aligns with your values and priorities. Yes, it needs to align with your values and priorities or you will not go far with it.
To create a compelling vision…
Imagine yourself living your dream life… What do you see? What does it look like? What do you see yourself doing? How does it make you feel? What do you want? Why do you want it? Ask yourself more questions. Write down the answers to these questions. Use the answers to create a clear and vivid image of your desired outcome.
I remember a leadership course I took on coursera. We wrote down our leadership vision as if it is already happening. We did not write it with future tenses. We wrote it down the way we saw it. I still have my written vision and I refer to it.
So as you imagine yourself living your dream life, write it down. If you have never written down your values before, write them down. Your values – what is important to you – will help you create a vision that is truly in harmony with you.
Write down your personal vision, mission and values.
Your vision should be specific and as detailed as possible. Take your time and of course as time goes on, you may find out that as you discover yourself you may need to make some changes and it is fine.
Don’t just say, I want to be wealthy. Describe what wealth means to you. When you are detailed, it will help you know when you achieve it.
The Energy of Planning
Planning is the key that switches on the vision, getting it ready for motion. Planning provides the roadmap to achieve success in whatever area of your life. If you want financial freedom, you need to draw the roadmap of how to get there.
You need to take your time and craft a roadmap dividing your vision into SMART goals. Remember your vision was an end result, an expected outcome and steps need to be taken to achieve the end result. Write down the goals that will get you there, the milestones and timelines to keep you accountable and on track.
Depending on how far your vision is, you may have 10-year plan, 3-year plan, 1-year plan, and 90-day plan. Have the goals all written down. You are likely going to achieve your goals if you have them written down.
Once the goals are written down, you can use your goals as a guide, write down step by step actions you need to achieve the goals. Outline the specific actions you need to take; determine the resources you need and the obstacles you may encounter and state the timelines for each action.
The roadmap guides you as your paper accountability partner. Sometimes, distractions can sweep you off course but because you have a roadmap which you keep referring to, you are able to get back on track and keep moving towards that actualization of your vision.
Your roadmap is not carved on steel. When your strategies are not actualizing your dream due to changing circumstances, you can adjust the plan as you move forward. Be flexible and be ready to adjust to stay on track.
Your ultimate goal is financial freedom… First you tried dropshipping and you realize it is not working for you, you may choose to try affiliate marketing. When you start out, it is a journey of self-discovery. You don’t give up because of some failures. Instead, you continue to explore until you find what resonates with you and brings you success and freedom.
The Strength of Taking Action
Taking action is the fuel that moves the vision from a mental image to a physical image. When you don’t take actions, your dream will never come to fruition. If what we watch in the movies were real (like speak and it comes into existence), but Nope… they are fantasies. You can’t only speak, and it comes to existence.
You speak, you write down (your roadmap) and you act.
This last path to your success can be challenging and you may be inactivated if you get bogged down by fear, self-doubt and procrastination. You can conquer these by taking baby steps, breaking the actions into small manageable tasks that are easy to accomplish. This will motivate you and build your confidence.
Sometimes when we dwell on our present circumstances, our vision may seem bigger than us.
You need to know that if you can imagine it, it can come to pass.
It is not sporadic actions. It is consistent actions. No guarantee it will be smooth moves. There may be obstacles on the way but you need to stay motivated, use the obstacles as stepping stones and learning processes and keep taking actions.
Find convenient ways to help you keep on track
I have an accountability partner I share my goals with and I also use a weekly planner and to do list.
Other ways include getting an app to track your progress, joining a community of like-minded people who can offer support and encouragement and journaling your progress daily.
So, find out what works for you.
And don’t forget to celebrate your wins; every win no matter how small will motivate you to keep going. I record my wins so that when the going gets tough, my wins will encourage me to keep going.
Can you turn your mind image into a physical image? Yes, you can… It may not be an easy project, but you can. Have a clear vision, develop a strategic plan and take consistent actions and you can achieve success in any area of your life.
If you need help, don’t hesitate to tap into your network and support group. And by all means DON’T GIVE UP!
You can do it.
With the right mindset and approach, all things are possible to those who believe.
